The excitement was palpable on July 6th, 2024. A full-day workshop, the DRep Pioneer Program had arrived at the Bakanja Welcome Center in Goma/DRC, the energy was electric. The room was filled with a diverse crowd students, developers, entrepreneurs, and business holders all united by their interest in the future of Cardano.
The workshop was a deep dive into the world of Cardano governance. Brought to us by Intersect MBO, the DRep Pioneer Program aims to equip the community with the knowledge and expertise required to become Delegated Representatives (DRep). Our passionate discussions explored the intricate design of Cardano\’s governance system, how it has evolved over time, and the crucial role DReps play in the process.

It was clear everyone loved the democratic system where ADA holders have a real voice in shaping Cardano. The concept of DReps, where ADA holders delegate their voting power to trusted individuals, resonated strongly. It was clear that everyone grasped the power entrusted to DReps and the responsibility it entails.

But the workshop wasn\’t just about theory, we fostered a collaborative spirit, encouraging open discussions about the proposed compensation structure and code of conduct for DReps. A fair and balanced system was paramount, and participants actively debated how to best acknowledge the contributions of all DReps, regardless of the amount of ADA delegated to them.
To truly understand the DRep role, we needed hands-on experience, Sanchogov.tools became our playground for the afternoon. This platform allowed participants to step into the shoes of a Drep, simulating the voting process on governance actions and analyzing real-world scenarios. It was an engaging and informative exercise that solidified the concepts learned throughout the day.

The success of this workshop wouldn\’t have been possible without the incredible team at Intersect MBO. Their dedication to empowering the Cardano community is truly inspiring. Martin Musagara being the main host a special thanks goes out to Boaz BANDU and Paul Mupenda for their unwavering commitment and passion for Cardano was contagious, and it ignited a spark of interest in the hearts of everyone present.
The DRep Pioneer Workshop in Goma was more than just a day of learning. It was a catalyst for change. It brought together a community eager to participate in shaping the future of Cardano. With the knowledge and enthusiasm gained from this workshop, we can expect to see more individuals in Goma stepping up to become DReps and actively contributing to Cardano\’s governance. The future is bright for Cardano in Goma, and the DRep Pioneer Program has played a pivotal role in lighting the way.
